Dental emergencies require immediate attention: the longer you wait, the more complex the situation may become. At Future Dental Centre Moonee Ponds, we prioritise your care and aim to accommodate you as quickly as possible, often on the same day.
Our emergency dentist supports individuals of all ages, including children and adults. We recognise that attending a dental appointment during an urgent situation can feel overwhelming. To help you stay comfortable, we provide several sedation options such as ‘happy gas’, IV sedation, and general anaesthesia.
We prioritise your comfort and well-being, offering care and understanding to every patient, just as we would to our own loved ones. If a dental emergency arises, feel free to get in touch. Our team is here for you.
If you’re experiencing discomfort, it’s important to seek attention promptly. Here are some of the urgent dental concerns we frequently manage at our Flemington practice:
Dental emergencies often occur unexpectedly, and it’s common to feel unsure about the cost involved. At Future Dental Centre, we aim to make timely dental care accessible without adding financial pressure. We provide flexible payment options through Humm and Fund My Dental to help you manage the cost of emergency care.
If you’re unsure about the expenses involved in emergency dental care, please contact us. We’ll do our best to assist you in finding a suitable approach.
We accept all major health fund claims on the spot and are proud to be a preferred provider for HCF, nib, and smile.com.au. Additionally, we accept various government schemes and vouchers, including: SACM Dental Coverage, CDBS, cohealth vouchers, Monash vouchers, Victorian Emergency Dental Voucher (VEDS), and Victorian General Dental Scheme (VGDS).
We ask that you come to the practice as quickly as possible, and phoning ahead helps us coordinate your visit or schedule a time that works for you.
We can guide you on the steps to take before coming in, helping you manage the situation until you arrive. If you can, please contact us right after the injury happens or early in the morning.
The quicker we can see to you, the better the prognosis tends to be.
Upon your exam, we’ll discuss the complexity of your concern and what options may be available to address the pain. Depending on your situation it may be necessary to start treatment the same day. Otherwise, we can often provide an interim solution and discuss a long-term plan.
Our diagnostic tools allow us to measure the extent of any damage, so that you can make an educated decision about your smile’s health. We’ll present you with a variety of appropriate care plans so that you can select the most appropriate one for your needs.
Emergency care differs based on the type of injury involved. You may require a minor filling or, in some situations, a procedure such as a root canal. You’ll be included in every step of the planning process. Our immediate focus is to help ease your discomfort.
Prompt action matters. If a tooth is broken or knocked out, ensure the fragment stays hydrated and avoid touching any root surface. Keep the tooth in a sealed container to prevent it from being misplaced.
Keep the tooth covered in a suitable liquid, such as saline, milk, or contact solution. If unavailable, tap water mixed with a little salt will do. It’s important to bring the tooth to us within one to two hours so we can attempt reattachment or reimplantation.
Toothaches are not things that tend to improve without professional dental care. If you’re between appointments, we recommend taking an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory medication as directed to help reduce swelling. Applying a cool compress to the side of your face (nearest the tooth) may also help to dull the pain.
If you have significant facial swelling or bleeding that does not ease with firm pressure, please go straight to the nearest emergency room.
If you’re in pain or experiencing a dental emergency, contact us straight away.
