Dental emergencies require immediate attention: the longer you wait, the more complex the situation may become. At Future Dental Centre Moonee Ponds, we prioritise your care and aim to accommodate you as quickly as possible, often on the same day.
Our emergency dentist caters to patients of all ages, from young children to adults. We understand that dental visits can be stressful, especially during an emergency. To ensure your comfort, we offer a range of sedation options, including ‘happy gas’, IV sedation, and general anaesthesia.
Your well-being is our top priority, and we treat every patient with the same care and compassion as we would our own family. If you’re experiencing a dental emergency, don’t hesitate to reach out: we’re here to help.
If you’re experiencing discomfort, it’s important to seek attention promptly. Here are some of the urgent dental concerns we frequently manage at our Brunswick West practice:
Unexpected dental emergencies can create both discomfort and financial concerns. At Future Dental Centre, we’re committed to supporting your access to prompt dental care while helping reduce stress around expenses. Our flexible payment plans, available through Humm and Fund My Dental, offer a simple way to spread out the cost of treatment.
If the cost of emergency dental treatment is causing you stress, we encourage you to reach out. We’re here to discuss arrangements that may work for you.
We offer on-the-spot claiming for all major health funds and partner as a preferred provider with HCF, nib, and smile.com.au. Our practice also accepts several government-supported schemes, including SACM Dental Coverage, CDBS, cohealth vouchers, Monash vouchers, VEDS, and VGDS.
We ask that you come to the practice as quickly as possible, and phoning ahead helps us coordinate your visit or schedule a time that works for you.
We’ll let you know what you may be able to do at home before heading to the practice, offering guidance to help you manage the concern. Whenever possible, reach out to us immediately after the incident or at the start of the day.
Seeing you as soon as possible generally helps achieve a more positive treatment outlook.
During your examination, we’ll talk through the nature of your concern and outline the options that may be available to help manage your discomfort. In some cases, beginning treatment on the same day may be appropriate. If not, we’ll aim to offer a temporary approach and outline a longer-term plan.
Our diagnostic tools allow us to measure the extent of any damage, so that you can make an educated decision about your smile’s health. We’ll present you with a variety of appropriate care plans so that you can select the most appropriate one for your needs.
The type of emergency treatment you may need will depend on the specifics of your injury. This might involve a simple filling or a more involved procedure like a root canal. You’ll be engaged in discussions about your care plan, and our priority is to address your pain as soon as possible.
Time is of the essence. For broken or knocked-out teeth, it’s important to keep the fractured portion hydrated. Take care not to handle it by the root, if possible. Store the tooth in a sealed container so that you won’t lose it.
Keep the tooth covered in a suitable liquid, such as saline, milk, or contact solution. If unavailable, tap water mixed with a little salt will do. It’s important to bring the tooth to us within one to two hours so we can attempt reattachment or reimplantation.
Most toothaches require dental care and don’t generally resolve without it. While you wait for your visit, an over-the-counter anti-inflammatory taken as directed can help reduce swelling. You can also apply a cool compress to the outside of your face for temporary relief.
For severe facial swelling or bleeding that isn’t controlled by firm pressure, it’s important to attend the nearest emergency room promptly.
If you’re in pain or facing an urgent dental issue, we encourage you to contact us without delay.
